Stay away from Moisturizer Z

Back in April I wrote about having a weird allergic reaction to something. My eyelids and the area under my eyes swelled up and the skin at the base of my neck got all red, blotchy and itchy. I never did quite figure out what it was, so as a safety precaution I stopped using certain products (including this one moisturizer, we'll call it Moisturizer Z), and it took a good week or two for my body to recover.

Here I am, 3 months later, and yesterday afternoon my eyes started itching again. By the evening they were full-on bugging me, and this morning I woke up to the same puffy eyes and blotchy skin. Yuck.

This time, I haven't been spring cleaning, and I don't think my stress levels are particularly high or anything different than the usual. So near as I can figure it, I think this is caused by Moisturizer Z.

Which is weird, because I have used this moisturizer before. But maybe they changed formulations? Or maybe I never used it on my eyelids before or at the base of my neck? Or maybe my body just doesn't like it anymore. I have no idea.

All I know is, I've been using this one moisturizer (we'll call it Moisturizer A) that I like a lot. Moisturizer A has never bothered me. But I ran out of it yesterday, so I pulled out the other moisturizer, Moisturizer Z, the suspect one that I had been using back in April. I decided to give it a try, figuring that if I had the same reaction, then Moisturizer Z must be the culprit.

And here I am, all puffy and itchy again. Coincidence? I think not!

I'm going to pick up some more of Moisturizer A and throw out Moisturizer Z because I really don't want to experience this again!

How about you? Are there certain products you've tried that have caused adverse reactions?

I have very sensitive skin in terms of product use. I have had the worst time finding a foundation that doesn't make me break out like a 12 year old. I also have to be super careful with eye products like mascara or liner because my eyes get all puffy and irritated if I use the wrong brand. I don't really use that much moisturizer because my skin is medium-to oily, but the few times I have I had a semi itchy reaction. oddly enough my skin has no issue with sun screen on the face. I've resorted to paying for the more expensive brands but they work better, and last a long time since I don't wear all that much make up anyway. BareMinerals is my go to for anything face. I've yet to have a reaction with any of their products.

I get eczema pretty badly especially around my eyes, neck and the back of my hands. I have to be really careful what I use and what I eat as certain foods will cause an outbreak as well. I find products that have are heavily perfumed are the worst for me.
I need to read the labels before I buy anything.
