Oh, cool post, Sherry. I'll have to do something similar. I think it would be fun, and it might also please my cousin Diane, who, when I did a from-childhood Thanksgiving post a few years back and mentioned my grandmother's ceramic Miss Muffet high on a display shelf, actually sent me Miss Muffet...

I have to say that your current Christmas-season solitude seems to fit in very well with what goes on The Night Before--not an empty feeling, but moments that bring those small touches of kindness we look back and later and find very significant. Hope you enjoy it.


I did! I hope by now you've received my comments on the piece and that you find them in any way helpful and supportive. And you're right, reading it I found the spirit of the story fit in with the contemplative mood I seem to be feeling right now. Curious.

And yes, that's my tree this year. Glad you like the picture! It's a touch blurry, I think because of the glowing Christmas lights (and no other lights on in the apartment), but I like the hazy look it provides.
