The vampires got me today!

Okay, obviously they're not really vampires. But they do love my blood.

*GRIN*

I donated at a blood drive this morning.

I think I got a newbie drawing my blood, too, because she had trouble getting that needle where it needed to go. Eventually she had to call someone else over, and the other woman adjusted it, and then the newbie said, "I had it too far to the left, didn't I?"

Can you say, "Oops"?

Thankfully it didn't hurt very much, with all that maneuvering. Though my arm has been stiff the rest of this day, and I'm a little sleeeeeeepy.

Interesting side note: apparently my blood type is sought after. (I'm O-Negative.) They've been trying to talk me into a different procedure, something where they take more than just blood, but every time I've gone there since they first suggested it, they haven't had time to do it. They just stick with the usual draw.

Nevertheless, I'm glad I made time for it. It's been a while since I've given blood, but I always feel a little bit good about myself afterwards, like I contributed something, helped in some way, you know?

And those vampires, they're always calling for more.

:D

I admire you for giving blood. I used to, then I got anemic and then I stopped.

Admiration too. Unfortunately I can't do it, my iron levels are on the low side of normal as it is. I need to have blood tests, but with the number of tests I'm a little worried by how much blood they'll need to take and how I'll react. (when I was extremely anaemic about 5 years ago I knew once I had the blood tests, felt horrible for a couple of days).

That is really terrific of you. Add me to the admiring pile. ;D

And I'm not surprised they wanted to talk you into a more advanced procedure... O-neg is rare and universally compatible; I'll say, it's sought after.

Better to donate than sell when it comes to blood. :) I had a chum in college who would bike down to the Red Cross every now and then to sell a pint or two of platelets/plasma/something I'm not certain about. ('Twas before the time of sperm banks -- although I don't think anyone would have paid for his. He looked like David Tennant with thick specs....

Um. Wait.

Hmmm.)

And good on you! :::::smooooosh::::
