Pass the popcorn, this show is never-ending!

Good lord, this is why I haven't watched the Oscars in quite a few years... it is SO. FRICKING. LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG.

Who's got time to sit through all that, especially all those commercials?

Whew.

But I really wanted to see if Ben Affleck would win as producer (and snubbed director) for Best Picture, and ...

He did! Whoo! Rock ON, Ben. Awesome.

Years ago, I remember delightedly watching him win as a newbie screenwriter for Good Will Hunting. It is so cool that he won another Oscar, some 15 years later. I especially loved what he said at the end: "It doesn't matter how you get knocked down in life, 'cause that's gonna happen. All that matters is that you gotta get up."

Don't I know it. Seriously, smart words to live by.

P.S. I'm not a fan of Seth MacFarlane, but who knew he could sing like that? Color me impressed.

P.S. again. Daniel Day-Lewis is utterly charming and adorable. What a sweet and funny acceptance speech.

Seriously. That joke about how he had been the original person slated to play Margaret Thatcher, and Meryl Streep was supposed to play Lincoln, and he still wants to see that production? Heeeeee. Adorable.

It's a shame MacFarlane is such a douche, because his singing voice is fantastic, especially when he does old band standards. He released an album of them a couple years ago that was quite divine. (His sister, Rachael, has quite a great voice, too.)

Vindication is sweet--very happy to see Ben Affleck with that Oscar in his hand, though I saw it on the news; I can't endure those endless Awards shows.
