In honor of the funny man, whose contemplations sometimes made me laugh and ponder.

The Invisible Man

"Think about it.

Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky, who watches everything you do, every minute of every day.

And the Invisible Man has a special list... of Ten Things he does NOT want you to do, and if you do ANY of these 10 things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and forever till the END OF TIME......

But he loves you!"

RIP. "Filthy Words" is still a favorite of mine.

I'd love to hear that one ("Filthy Words") again. It's been years! Really funny stuff.

P.S. The day after his death, the Chicago Tribune printed an article written by a guy who was actually at the 1970's Milwaukee concert where Carlin got arrested afterwards (for saying those words). It was fascinating.

"When I was a kid we drank driveway puddles and swam in raw sewage!"

We really, really did.

Rest easy, Al Sleet. :(

The Chicago Trib mentioned his 'raw sewage' comment in an article tribute to his life and career. Carlin's thought on the redundancy of that expression: has anyone actually ever tried to cook sewage?

:D

Hee.

*sigh* I'm really going to miss him. He didn't pussyfoot around things for fear of hurting someone's feelings. Thanks for sharing.

Anytime! Thanks for stopping by to comment in tribute to him.

:)

(P.S. Sorry for the delayed response. I was finally getting around to cleaning out my email inbox and thought I'd respond before deleting the alert emails.)

I remember the first time I ever heard George Carlin. I think I was about 7 or 8, and my parents were watching one of his HBO comedy specials (yeah, Mom and Dad weren't always great at monitering my TV viewing, but heck, they were watching it with me...). I remember laughing so hard...even though I won't get some of the jokes until years later.

There are so many good sketches - "Ways to Keep People on Their Toes," "The Airline Safety Lecture," "The Planet is Fine," and, of course, "The Seven Words." I think of them know, and I smile.

George Carlin influenced my sick sense of humor from an early age. He and The Marx Brothers (especially Grocho). Thank you for all the laughs, George :)

thank you. I am trying to clean the grapefruit juice off my keyboard after reading this:D And hope like hell nobody sees the stupid grin on my face after reading this. Memo to self: no reading funny stuff at work. Makes people very suspicious when you start laughing!

Nahhh... keep 'em off their guard. They won't try to mess with you if they think you're laughing and insane.

;D

Heee.

Seriously though, very glad to bring some laughter to your day. I hope things are looking up brightly on your end of things. I know you've been going through more than your share of rough times lately. I hope it's all working out much better now!

HEE HEE!!! I'm trying to go to the bathroom but several posts have me sitting here trying not to move until I can really calm down. Things are still in an uproar; along with several other people in the building, I've gotten an eviction notice but I'm ambivalent on how to proceed. On the one hand, I don't want to leave the neighborhood. Jane Street is very quiet, nice; in the heart of Greenwich Village. On the other hand, those two thugs are STILL coming there. Sunday, I ran into the bitch who tried to kill me. Now, I understand from a neighbor that she's came there because her alleged lover is seeing someone else in the building. I can't wait to get to court; something has to be done about this creep. Why pay rent where I can't live in safety without this thing coming here under false pretenses?! It's pissing me off and what I don't want to do is play with the toys I found as a member of the SCA. I personally love the idea but my son and estranged husband don't. I can guarantee she will meet my son when he comes home; he wants to talk to her about that fight...

Otherwise, I'm in the second week of work at my favorite lawfirm. One more week to go but I'm hoping it will happen more often. I hate working days; I'm a night person but I'll do it because I like the place.
