Yesterday afternoon I made homemade granola. There's something very Zen about baking for me. I find it relaxing.

And fun!

I have heard only good things about homemade granola. I'll have to give it a try at some point (I only have about 10 variant recipes saved up), might actually be the perfect snack to pack along when I have to be out for hours and hours.

I know what you mean, though. There are so many potential recipes out there, it's almost ridiculous. *GRIN* But my mom had a recipe she always used to make when I was a kid, so that's the one I always use. It's simple and tasty, with not so many ingredients that you feel the granola gets lost in a sea of other flavors (unlike those that have an almost trail-mix-like flavor because they have so many parts - raisins, dried cranberries, nuts, etc.). Instead, the recipe I use is pure granola (and some shredded coconut, because I think that's delicious). And even though the recipe calls for canola/vegetable oil, I use a smooth, unsweetened applesauce instead, to lighten up the recipe (and perhaps help lower the calories and potential fats/cholesterol).

I was talking to a colleague the other day about how cooking and baking can be so relaxing and give you energy. She said "I don't do yoga, I cook."

There's a Madeleine pan waiting to be used, my next baking adventure.

I don't do yoga, I do Pilates (the "dynamic" kind as in push-ups, 100 crunches, and 1 minute planks to warm up for "around the world planks") so I do cook to relax :)

Madeline cookie, if you're referring to Proust's petite Madeleine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madeleine_%28cake%29), then yes.
