Liar, liar, pants on fire.
Aug. 6th, 2009 01:23 pmYesterday I participated in LiveJournal's "Writer's Block" exercise entitled "Two Truths and a Lie," posted here on my LJ, because I found it fun.
What I found even more entertaining were your answers to the question, "Which of these three statements is a lie?"
To refresh your memories, here are the three statements from that post:
1. I bake an awesomely delicious loaf of homemade pumpkin bread.
2. I played a homeless woman in a production of "Rent."
3. I once sang backup for the band Poison.
First of all,
lostakasha, no pumpkin bread for you! *laughs uproariously*
;)
Secondly,
pluschi, if you get the opportunity, you must go see a production of "Rent." It's awesome! Unconventionally good. (Callie will back me up on this. Right,
callieach? *GRIN*)
Finally... the answer to the puzzle.
As the shadowy informant Deep Throat once told Special Agent Fox Mulder on The X-Files: "A lie, Mister Mulder, is most convincingly hidden between two truths."
#2 is the lie.
Though I know many of the lyrics to songs from "Rent," I have not yet had occasion to be in a production of it. Thank you to those who thought I could have been. Heeee.
Which means, yes, I do make a mean loaf of pumpkin bread (at least, so I've been told, heh), and yes, I really have sung backup for Poison. *wicked grin*
Rock on!
P.S. That XF reference was for all my X-Phile friends, though I will admit I first thought of
bardsmaid when I remembered the quote. :)

Date: 2009-08-06 07:31 pm (UTC)(Yeah, I thought I'd told you about that gig. I figured you'd be able to guess. Some of you know me too well. LOL.)
Things are busier than anticipated this week. I've found a bunch of jobs to apply for, and it's taking me longer than I thought. But last night I made myself a new 'to do' list, in order to help me focus a little better, and (one hopes) that should keep me on track. I've been wanting to write to you, but my aunts have been commandeering the computer in the evenings the last few days, so the 'best laid plans' have been repeatedly, regrettably pushed aside. But writing more thoroughly to you is on my 'to do' list! *sheepish grin*
Things should be quieter for me next week. At least I hope so! My aunts and my grandma are going to visit my parents in Wisconsin, so I'll have the house (and the computer, heh) to myself all next week. I plan to catch up on emails and make a dent on writing those stories I've had in my queue for too long! (I've been researching some things for that this week, as well.)
How are things with you? :)

My sister wants to come visit this weekend and have me assist her with making her résumé. Seeing that mine doesn't seem to be getting ME anywhere, I'm not sure I'm the best person to help her. But I will, if she wants me to.
Unfortunately, I think all these late nights and traveling and spending time with kids (hello, germs! hahaha) has caught up with me, because I seem to have caught some sort of summer cold. I woke up this morning with my nose all stuffed up. I'm hoping to keep it at bay so that it doesn't become a terrible cold, maybe get rid of it quickly, but in the meantime... UGH. I really don't want to feel like this all next week. I'd like to enjoy that time to myself, not be miserable. *head desk*
How's your day going? What have you been up to this week? Hope all is well.
(P.S. Looks like the heat from your area is coming my way. It's supposed to hit 90-something on Saturday, maybe even 98 or over 100 on Sunday, and in the 90's next week for a few days. o_O Yikes.

And of course you could have been in Rent! Sheesh....
*smishes you all up*

Date: 2009-08-06 08:44 pm (UTC)I want to hear those expletives! Heeeeee.
You are too nice to me. You haven't even heard me sing! I could be terrible, for all you know.
*laughs and laughs*
I would still love to be in Rent. That would be the stuff of awesome.
*smishes you right back*
Can I just say that ever since "Rock of Love" started on VH-1, I've been a little mortified to admit that I once sang backup for Poison? The horror! Oh, Bret... just... NO.
:D
P.S. I adore your Tony user pic. It makes me laugh every time you use it. My Abby icon smishes your Tony. ;)

Seriously though, I hope all is well on your end. I just read your post about teeth. Heeee. I've always wanted to try teeth whitening. (I already went through the braces, back in junior high through part of high school, sadly.)

Date: 2009-08-07 02:06 am (UTC)Also, for the record, I was going to go with #2 (because umm I'm pretty sure that would have come up in conversation before) before I chickened out and went with my non-answer.
And now I desire details as so this Poison backup-ing. ♥

Date: 2009-08-07 04:18 pm (UTC)But yes, sadly, I have not done Rent. Yet. ;) And because you are so smart and quietly muttered into your elbow like you did, I knew you had the right answer! (Heeee.)

Hehhhh. I will write something up and post it to my LJ. It's not as sordid as one might think, but it was still very fun. *GRIN*

LOL. Oh, Sherry. I could never think of anything you've done as sorid. You're simply too nice and lovable. ;) But I can't wait for the story!
