According to my computer, the current temperature here in Chicagoland is 101 degrees F.

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for our area. According to weather dot com, with the heat index (all that horrible, brain-melting humidity and such), temperatures could get up to 108 - 118 degrees F on Thursday and Friday.

HOLY SHIT.

Even with air conditioning, you can feel the heat out there. You can feel the air is heavy. Walking out there, it's like a wall of heat and stifling thick air. UGH. Small wonder many places wanted to cancel their fireworks displays tonight -- with all the dried out plants from the heat, it could start dangerous fires.

So...

Ice cream for supper, anyone?

;D

There's no way in hell I'd want to turn on an oven or cook over a stove.

P.S. The mood tags are weird sometimes. Why is 'thirsty' considered a frown face? I would think its tongue should be hanging out instead, or just look impassive in general. I don't think thirst is a horrible thing, unless it's excessive thirst, in which case, yeah, you may have a problem. Anyway... these are the odd things I apparently think about when trying to procrastinate about doing my homework.

The entire country has been so hot this summer! When I was in St. Louis for the funeral it was 112. We had a string of days over 100 here that broke records. Just be glad you have AC!

I don't think I'd be able to study or do my homework or do much of anything if we didn't have AC. I think all I'd be good for is lying in an unmovable heap in the coolest room of the house.

:D

Stay cool and enjoy your day!

You have my deepest (chilliest?) sympathies. We've been spared in this one. We've had overcast, rain, temps in the mid-60s to low 70s and the occasional sunbreak (traditionally, about an hour before sunset) where the sun finally breaks through just in time for you to verify that it still exists, and to see the sunset. But this appears to be the first day of the traditional yearly break-through, where the rain finally goes away. Wish you were here. It's sunny, so very quiet because of the holiday, shady in large parts of the yard and 74 degrees. Just perfect. You're welcome here anytime... truly!

In the meantime I'm sending you virtual chilly, non-humid air.. Or, you know, maybe it's time to picture Krycek out on Skinner's balcony in a heatwave (maybe August instead of March, which would have been close to the time of the episode), with Skinner leaning down over Alex whispering, "Just think cool thoughts!"

Sorry, couldn't resist. Did you know I made Lynne a polarfleece blanket for Christmas one time years ago and because she's a Skinner fan, I embroidered "Just think warm thoughts" in the corner? She still talks about using that blanket all the time.

Sunny and 74 sounds beautiful. *happy sigh*

Thanks for sending you the virtual chilly air. Though looking at the weather channel it looks like that actual chilly air may not hit for a while. Hot hot hot tomorrow and the next day and the next day... yikes. What's rough is the air conditioning doesn't work in my car so driving 45 minutes to work in traffic gets a little uncomfortable in this kind of heat. Sometimes a lot uncomfortable. I'm reminded of Krycek driving Gibson Praise to that facility and how hot it was for him and how he had to keep stopping or taking breaks or stopping at a motel so the kid wouldn't overheat. Your descriptions of how uncomfortable it was are spot on accurate. ;)

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAA I love it!

I remember you mentioning that blanket for Lynne. I love that you embroidered "Just think warm thoughts" on it. Fantastic (and clever and hilarious) gift for an X-Phile. *BIG GRIN* Just marvelous.

Okay, it's very very late here (1:45 AM) and I have to work in the morning, so I best get to bed. Hope to talk with you again soon! Have a wonderful Thursday!

Much sympathy and cooling thoughts. I loathe summer.

I usually like summer because I need some sunshine in my life to perk up my spirits (as opposed to the doldrums of winter and grey skies). But I can't stand it when the heat and humidity is so bad that all I can do is lie around like a lump on my bed, unable or unwilling to move. It's so uncomfortable. Case in point: tonight it's 1:30 AM and it's still 85 degrees outside. Way too uncomfortable. I've got a fan pointed directly at me, but it's not enough. Ugh.

Anyway, as stated, it's 1:30 AM here, so I best get to bed! I assume it's morning for you? So... GOOD MORNING, KAT! I hope you have a beautiful day. :D
