"This is your life. This is your journey. You are the Hero..."

~ Lee Smith

Today I DANCED.

I put on this song, cranked it up, and I just let loose. Completely. Hair flying, hips shaking, who-gives-a-fuck-who's-watching, absolute lunacy.

I wasn't trying to exorcise pain or depression. I thought that's what I was feeling, but it's not either of those things.

I'm trying to rid myself of apathy. Emptiness. Holding pattern blahhh.

I feel like -- if I just keep doing this, keep singing and dancing about, taking in the music, and remember to hold onto what it does for me --

I might, just might, be able to get my joy back.

Then the sky opens up and everything feels possible.

:D

There's really nothing like music.

*picturing it right now*

What's your favorite choice of music for such a thing?

*hugs you back*

Predictably, it's either my Bollywood mix or my Mulder/Krycek fanmix :)

Yours?

That's right! I just read your recent post about your new obsession with Bollywood. I hear that's some good fun music. :)

What on earth is your Mulder/Krycek fanmix? I must know!

:D

Me? Something funky -- like Brickhouse or Slippery When Wet by the Commodores -- or something uptempo big band jazzy, like Sing Sing Sing from Swing Kids. Something that really gets me moving and lifts up my mood. Whee!

Hindi film songs are SUPER for bouncing around the house to.

Haha, I have a whole folder full of songs that remind me of M/K. Some of them are recs from other people, some are music from the series, and some are ones that just remind me of them. I listen to it for fic inspiration. PRETTY EMBARASSING but I am shameless :)

Your songs sound really nice and dancey, too!

I highly recommend those songs.

You'll have to tell me what some of those inspiring M/K songs are. I'm curious!

Hi, Courtney! Long time, no chat!

Thanks for the birthday wishes! Your user pic looks delicious.

*GRIN*

And I love that saying you posted. It's beautiful. Thank you so much for saying it.

I'm so glad you danced today... but sorry I forgot your birthday in the rush of everything going on here. So a very, very Happy Late Birthday! (At least you know it's sincere.) :-)

The cottage is almost finished. Tomorrow the electrician is supposed to do the rest of the electrical (everything's been roughed in), and the contractors are going to take care of a final few details. But the inside is finished and painted and carpeted--yay! So there will be moving going on soon, and the shuffling of rooms, and general reorganizing/settling in.

Hi!!

I'm so glad to hear things are finally coming together. I've been thinking about you a lot, and wondering how things were faring in your corner of the world. I hope the shuffling is quick and easy. *pokes you* Nestle in to your new cottage castle, and then start writing again! *stirring your creative pot for you* It's on the backburner, but I think it's still bubbling.

:D

Thank you so much for the birthday tidings. I knew you were swamped with stuff, so I wasn't worried about it. My turning one year older is the least of your concerns right now. heeheee

*hugs you tightly*

Nearly all the electrical work is finally done and we've got our fingers crossed that the electrical inspector comes tomorrow. If so, we can go ahead and move in; otherwise, with the holiday, we may have to wait until Tuesday. :-( Noooooo!

Con's birthday is Saturday and since he's very interested in birds (just like his mom), we're going to the Cascades Raptor Center, which has over 60 birds of prey.

I can see, with all the activity around here, where being out in the cottage will be a good (and probably necessary) thing in order to have some quiet time for writing. But we're all having a good time together here. :-)

Did you feel great while you were dancing?

I use to dance while I'm doing housework. I love it.

I did! It was crazy, but I really did.

You should do it more often. It's fun.

After reading and commenting on your previous post, this one gives me an automatic grin. I like to think you are getting your joy back, bit by bit, every time you sing or dance or smile, or, hell, just keep living.

Music is, by far, the best cure for apathy. (Or lack of motivation, or numbed anguish, or self-doubt, or boredom.)

I surely hope so. I just have to remember to keep doing those things that make me feel so happy. Like singing, or writing, or dancing crazy around the house.

*hugs you for your wonderful, thought-provoking words*

All so true, Dakotah. Thanks for reminding me. I needed it!

And the lovely message on your kick-ass, heart-breaking Hodgins & Brennan user pic gave me a good nudge, too. Thanks for that!

As long as you let on when you need reminding, I'll be more than happy to do it. :)

I do make good use of this icon, don't I? Not only do I love the episode dearly, but the notion in this scene - that whatever you're contemplating is going to make or break you, but you can't give up until you try - is one to remember.

Let on when I need reminding? Ah see, now you're starting to get a glimpse of my ridiculous personality. *GRIN* I am more than happy to be there for others, but find it terribly difficult to ask for the same in return. I find it excruciating. Isn't that silly?

Nevertheless, I will try harder to let you know.

:)

Yes, you use that icon well, and it's wonderful. I love that moment, that scene, that whole episode. The message is powerful.

Hey Chica, I called and left you a message on Friday night. Don't know if you got it or not, but was hopin' we could get together and do some writing or sumthin. LOVE!

Hey Beautiful :)

I'm very sorry to say I got your message well after the fact. My grandmother had a bad cold last week, and I think she gave it to me. Most of the weekend I was feeling a bit crappy, trying to fight it off before it actually became something, but ... very sad to say, I have lost the battle. For the last day or two, I've been miserable. Sniffly, runny nose, sneezy, headachy, sinus yucky, no decent sleep, you name it. It sucks!! I can't remember the last time I had a cold during the summer. I do not like it, Sam I am. ;)

Therefore, the get-together will have to wait. (I'm quite certain you don't want this nasty cold/sinus thing/whatever it is that I have.)

But once this cold is over, most definitely let's get together and do some writing or sumthin. *GRIN* In fact, all of the above that you mentioned in your call would be fun. I think it would be fantastic, and besides that, I'd really love to get together with you and hear more in person about your amazing NY trip experience, if there's anything you'd like to share.

LOVE back! :)
